Insulin, Human is a two-chain polypeptide hormone produced by the β-cells of pancreatic islets, it regulates the cellular uptake, utilization, and storage of glucose, amino acids, and fatty acids and inhibits the breakdown of glycogen, protein, and fat.
Insulin should be solubilized in dilute acetic (1%) or hydrochloric acid, pH 2-3, with solubility of 1-10 mg/mL. The stock solution of Insulin should be stored frozen at -20°C in single-use aliquots to avoid freeze-thaw cycles.
